The 5 Cs of media use is a mnemonic tool for pediatricians or other professionals when talking with parents and patients about how they can engage with social media in a safe, healthy, and age-appropriate way. The 5 Cs of media use are Child, Content, Calm, Crowding Out, and Communication.
This handout was created for pediatricians and parents by the American Academy of Pediatrics in partnership with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and contains helpful tips and guidance on how teenagers ages 15-17 can stay safe online.
