Part 5 of InnovateOhio’s AI education toolkit covers resources for parents so they can better understand AI and how it can be used safely and effectively.

FREE

Description

As Artificial intelligence is becoming more prominent it’s important to understand how it can impact K-12 education, and help. The AI Education Toolkit is an online guide for K-12 educators, policymakers, and parents with resources to increase AI readiness in Ohio Schools.

Part 5 of the toolkit covers AI resources for parents. AI and AI based tools are becoming commonplace in the classroom and in home life. Because these tools are increasingly popular in a variety of settings it is important for parents to be educated on AI, the impacts it can have, and how they and their kids can use AI safely and effectively. Similarly to part 4, this section has 3 lists of resources; background on AI,  AI in the classroom, and practical templates and tools. There is some overlap between the resources for parents and the resources for teachers but each list is specialized for the audience.

These resources provide a good range of information on AI and how it can impact learning and be used safely in and out of the classroom. They can be used in tandem with the rest of the AI toolkit or on its own.

You can access part 5 of the AI toolkit at https://innovateohio.gov/aitoolkit/toolkit-resources/05-part-5-resources-for-parents
