If you identify someone struggling with anxiety, some things that you can do to help include:
- Note what is occurring in the environment
- Offer consistent reassurance with regular check-ins
- Find a time and a safe place to connect
- Encourage talking about their concerns but never force the conversation
- Allow for flexible deadlines
- Provide choices (they need some control)
- Ensure that they write down instructions
- Practice deep breathing and relaxation to calm
- Put together a coping toolbox to include stress balls, music etc.
- Encourage a daily schedule so there are no surprises
- Encourage activity
- Always model calmness
