The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) compiled this fact sheet about the importance of parents and caregivers having age-appropriate conversations about alcohol and other drugs with their kids. 

 

It features tips for how parents and caregivers can approach these conversations for under 8 years of age, 8-12 years old, 13-16 years old or 17-20 years old.

 

Adults talking with their children about healthy choices is an important part of prevention leading to healthy outcomes.

Educators and Doctors, 

Post this and share this in meetings, wellness visits, or at activities where parents will be. Sometimes adults need to hear from other adults to build confidence that their words matter.
