Description
If you are a teacher, pediatrician, or parent, you may have heard about adverse childhood experiences or ACEs which occur when a child experiences a lack of physical or emotional safety. ACEs contribute to long term health issues, psychological problems, and increase risks of unhealthy behaviors.
It may be exciting to learn that there are also positive childhood experiences, or PCE’s. PCE’s occur when children have safe, stable, nurturing relationships, and environments that play an important role in helping children develop healthily.
This downloadable or printable resource serves as a brief introduction to the concept of positive childhood experiences, their benefits, and how you can start creating them for the children in your life. This resource may be a helpful learning tool for parents and caregivers, as well as a useful educational resource for teachers, school-based mental health professionals, and pediatricians.
This resource was based off of information from the American Society for the Positive Care of Children https://americanspcc.org/positive-childhood-experience/
