Description
In this five-part video series, Dr. Bruce D. Perry gives educators an understanding of the science behind stress, trauma, and the brain–and how this can help them in the classroom.
Dr. Perry describes the Neurosequential model, which assists educators in increasing student engagement and reducing behavioral problems to enhance learning. Additionally, he discusses the negative impacts stress has on the brain and the importance of creating safe and secure environments to lessen stress on students and teachers.
Another vital part Dr. Perry emphasizes for educators is building solid relationships with students. Research has shown educators who develop empathetic connections with their students can engage and re-engage them in learning.
He finishes the series by sharing strategies for educators to regulate adults and students and effective classroom strategies to improve students’ social, emotional, and academic functioning.
