Description
The Discovery Kit for Engagement is available from the Full Frame Initiative website to help family serving organizations focus on well-being and person-centered interactions.
Well-being Blueprint, Missouri Alliance for Children and Families created the kit for anyone looking to move from traditional engagement strategies to co-creating, co-assessment, or co-planning with others. Also, the kit is for organizations whose principles and values align with well-being-centered engagement.
For those wanting to modify their current process, this toolkit recommends starting conversations with people about their situations as they understand their own experiences best. If someone wants to improve their experiences, they must be a part of revamping the process. The kit warns professionals to be cautious of power dynamics. The environment where conversations occur should be welcoming and warm.
Every client conversation matters and should be person-centered. Transparency is important to build trust. When asking questions, ask permission to have conversations, be clear about what will happen with the information one receives, and remind people they can answer how they want.
The toolkit encourages organizations to examine their culture as well. Program principles and values should align with those that promote well-being-centered engagement. Supervisors should think about ways of engagement that are open and valuable. Also, consider what is working or what may be missing in working with staff and clients.
