Description
Adverse childhood experiences, commonly referred to as ACEs, occur when a child’s physical or psychological safety is threatened. This can occur because of exposure to violence, abuse, neglect, lack of stability, or traumatic experiences. It is vital for caretakers, those who work with children, and policymakers to understand what ACEs are and the impact they have on child development and people’s long term health.Â
This downloadable and printable resource introduces the concept of ACEs, and briefly explains their impacts as well as what can be done to reduce them. It may be a useful resource for parents and caregivers, educators, pediatricians, and community leaders.
