The tool defines trauma and the impact it can have on an individual, the guide provides instructions, tips, and resources about how to implement a trauma-informed approach. It covers multiple domains, including governance and leadership, engagement, workforce development, physical environment, and more.

Health professionals can use the guide to review current practices and the environmental settings for children and families. 

School administrators may find this useful in training educators to be trauma-informed. Educators also may use this guide to create a physically and psychologically safe environment for students.
